Taking the trip of a lifetime is fun and exciting and leaves one with the feeling that this will be memorable and spectacular. Well it certainly can be all of those things, but only if you are prepared to make the most of your special trip. Here are some things to do to prepare yourself for a once in a lifetime trip:
Make Sure you are 100% Healthy and Aware of Health Facilities During Your Trip
Going on any trip is stressful and some may put you in places where if you get ill, you will be hard pressed to find a doctor or medical facility. Since this is the case, you need to make sure of two things on top of the obvious which is getting travel insurance which covers medical.
You get a full check-up before you leave – When you are healthy you are best positioned to take advantage of all of the adventures you experience on your trip. Your trip may involve strenuous walking, adventures on the water or many other aspects that require physical exertion. So, you need to get a full physical check-up with your doctor before you go to make sure that you are in tip top shape. Seeing your own doctor, who has your medical records, can make sure that he knows of any inconsistencies in your record and prescribe any medications you might need during the trip.
Know where the medical facilities are on your trip – Depending on where you go, the place may or may not have the best access to medical facilities. There also may be a language issue and also an issue with great communication facilities. You need to understand the limitations of your destination in advance so you can plan a route to a decent medical facility if needed. Also you should understand any phone numbers and phrases you need to know that will get you to the hospital or clinic.
Secure Your Home
The nest thing to do is to make sure that your home is safe and secure while you are away. Check you alarm system and inform the alarm company that you will be out of town for an extended period and that any suspicious activity should be taken seriously.
Install internet friendly cameras that are motion sensitive and allow you and the alarm company to view your home remotely no matter where you travel as long as you have an internet connection. There are great systems that also let you turn off and on interior and exterior lights on your property.
Finally, alert your neighbors that you will be gone and have them look out for anything out of the ordinary going on with your property. Have someone check your property to also be sure everything is in order and further, alert your neighbors that you will be gone and tell them to keep an eye out for any suspicious things around your property.
With these two things done, you are ready to pack. Make sure to pack a great camera so you can take plenty of picture during your trip. Get a good travel camera that will take much better pictures than your camera phone. Now get the rest of your luggage together and you are all set. Have a fantastic trip!
